Euro Cylinders are available with up to six pins. Internal and external doors require different levels of security.

The choice of the correct cylinder is crucial; it is dependent on the way your doors and handle are utilized. External doors, for instance are required to be fitted with cylinders with greater security, whereas doors inside can be secured using an ordinary cylinder. Certain cylinders are equipped with additional features that can increase security, like anti drill or anti bump properties.

A euro cylinder must be measured correctly to ensure that it is the right size for your door. The cylinder should be measured from the screw hole at the center to the ends of the cylinder. This includes the thumb turn should there be one. It is recommended to do this with the lock in place, but when this isn't possible, you may remove it to measure. It is important to avoid having a cylinder that extends beyond the handle or escutcheon. This could make it vulnerable to snapping lock attacks.

The design of most newer cylinders includes anti-drilling and bump resistance features. These are designed to reduce attacks by forcing cylinders to rotate in a new direction. This will help to deflect the attack and keep your doors safe.

There are cylinders that are designed to resist snapping. This is a growing kind of attack on cylinders, where the break line in the lock is attacked using a special tool to break off the front of the cylinder and allow the door to open. This is much quicker and more straightforward than opening multipoint locks. It also leaves little evidence of a break-in which can impede an insurance claim.

Spring Cassette

This spring cassette is located in the base plate of the door handle. It provides a sprung solution to bring your multipoint lock handles to their original position after using. The handles were previously equipped with no spring and would droop when the locking mechanism was disconnected. This simple component is the best way to solve this issue. It also helps prevent your door from getting stuck in the closed or open position as they aren't easy to close manually.

These spring cassettes were created to be used with sprung multipoint locks. They are not compatible with handles that aren't sprung, and you will have to cut a hole in the backplate to allow them to fit. (Please check the image for a detailed diagram). These cassettes are a solution to broken or missing cassettes in the backplate of uPVC door handles. They are sold as one unit. They come with a square cut out that accommodates an 8mm shaft.
