iRobot Combo Review

Combo is iRobot’s first mop and vacuum robot. It's also the most attractive. The top piece of brushed aluminum and irobot roomba price logo are more sophisticated than the loud designs of rivals.

The irobot self empty base Home application is used to guide and set up your robot. The app collects usage data and maps of your home, which include obstacles and furniture. Maps and images are only shared with you if you've opted-in.

It's not a mop

The Combo irobot vacuum cleaner and mop, a highly intelligent mopping robot, combines all the power of the superb Roomba J7+ and adds a reservoir of water onboard and mopping pads that are small, and a robot arm that can lift and lower the pad. It can accomplish a good amount of work in only 111 minutes before it is power-depleted and returns to its base station to recharge.

The model with the combo also comes with the iRobot home app, which means you can begin and stop Cleaning Irobot Roomba runs. It's also a stylish robot, with matte black plastic that does not show fingerprints or dust and the top piece of aluminum is brushed with the small iRobot logo.

It is a great vacuum cleaner, and it has no trouble crossing over large area carpets or transition strips between flooring surfaces. It's even able to capture dust particles that robotic vacuums miss. However, it's not great in cutting. It can't obliterate dried milk stains, for example, unless you send it out four or five times.

IRobot's specialized Braava jet M6 mopping robotic cleaner, which is often offered in a bundle with the J7 Plus for less than the combo Combo is a better job of this and other tasks that are difficult. It can even clean up ketchup and wine spills, however I wouldn't recommend it to be used after any liquids with a high amount of sugar.

It's an air vacuum

It's among the most attractive robot vacuums. The top part is smooth and doesn't show fingerprints or dust as easily as other models. The small dustbin and water tank of this vacuum are simple to open, but they are not the biggest. The Combo J7+ also has the smarts you are used to from irobot self empty including maps and obstacle avoidance mapping that works efficiently and quickly. The mopping arm is the thing that makes this model stand out in its category. It keeps the mop pad hidden behind the vacuum, but if it detects a surface that needs mopping, it lowers the pad underneath and behind the robot. This is a huge upgrade over other robot vacuums that require users to manually remove the mop pad for hard floors and carpets or even turn the whole unit off for mopping.

It's an electric charging station

When you're ready to charge your Combo Irobot, simply place it on the changing station and align its metal contacts with those on the base. The charging station works well and is easy to put in. In my testing it took just a few minutes for the robot to begin charging and make a sound when it was done. Once the Combo robot is fully charged, you can start mapping runs on the app to help the robot better comprehend your home. The app also allows you to mark certain objects as permanent avoidances, like lamp cords. You can also connect Alexa or Google Assistant to your robot to allow voice commands for it to navigate around your home.

It's a smart device

Combo irobots use acoustic and onboard sensors to understand the kind of floor it's encountering, as well as the furniture in your home. This information is paired with images taken by the robot's onboard camera and maps of your home to make a customized plan for cleaning every room. This makes it intelligent enough to avoid your sofa, lamp cords and other objects you wish to keep intact. As with all connected devices, there are questions about the security of these information.
