Three Wheeled Buggies

MFM reviewer Kath tried this buggy out with a newborn as well as a best lightweight 3 wheel stroller year old and found it was able to withstand grass, cobbles, rough roads, dirt tracks, and kerbs. Kath said that "it is sturdy to push and is very stable when going over difficult terrain. Its tyres (which are inflatable and require periodic pumping) offer built-in suspension that was very comfortable for my children.

Another thing to consider is the size and shape. It is important for the seat to be large enough for your child to be at ease and to lie down. Some three-wheel buggies have a lie-flat option that lets your child face you, while others only allow a parent-facing one.

The Roma Atlas is a great alternative for off-road or wet walks. It can be used as a single unit from the beginning and can be modified to take two children when your family grows. It is suitable for toddlers and infants from birth until age 4 and comes with a bumper with a rain cover, an upgraded 5-point harness, and a large cushioned seat. The storage options are good as well, with a large basket, zip pockets on the hood and a handy pouch on the back of the seat unit.

Wheels with larger diameter

Larger wheels means that your buggy will be more stable on uneven terrain, which is ideal for buggies designed for off-road use. The front wheel will lift slightly to avoid hitting it.

The downside of having bigger wheels is that they make some buggies quite wide and can struggle to fit through narrow spaces. This is a problem especially if you're using it to an exercise bike or to maneuver through doors that are narrow when out and about. The majority of models come with compact folding options, which permit you to take off the front wheels and store them in a more compact manner.

Easy to maneuver

MFM reviewer Kath tried the 3-wheeler with her toddler. she said: "The Terrain is a pleasure to drive in rough terrain. The front swivel wheel was especially helpful." I was also awed by the way it dealt with kerbs using the hand-operated break. It was extremely stable when for descending or on uneven terrain."

The only drawback to this great maneuverability, is that the larger wheels of a 3 wheel buggy can sometimes make it difficult to squeeze into tight spaces. This is something you should be aware of when your home is a city. If this is a concern then a 4-wheeler might be a better choice for you.
