Three Wheeled Buggies

Three-wheeled buggies are great for walking around the neighborhood or jogging. Their compact design makes them easy to maneuver even in tight areas.

For a smooth ride, opt for a pram fitted with air-filled tyres. Look for models with a 360deg front swivel wheel. They are, however, susceptible to punctures. Make sure you have an emergency repair kit.

Frame made of sturdy material

New figures show that the three-wheeled buggies, that symbol of the decade that were more expensive than common sense, are in a steep decline. Four-wheelers are replacing them, and are more flexible and simple to drive, while also looking fashionable.

MFM reviewer Kath tried the buggy with a newborn and a 3 year old and found that it coped well with grass, cobbles rough pavements, dirt tracks and kerbs. She said that it felt solid to push, and extremely solid on rough terrain. Its tyres (which are inflatable so need occasional pumping) offer built-in suspension, which was very comfortable for my kids.

The shape and size of the seat is another aspect to consider. The seat should be large enough to allow your child to be comfortable and allow them to lie down. Some three-wheel buggies have the option of lying flat that allows the child to face you, while others only permit a parent-facing option.

Many three wheeled buggies have swivel front wheels to assist you in maneuvering around tight corners, while others are designed for running and have fixed front wheels that lock to improve the speed and stability at which they can be driven. This is also helpful when you crash into the roots of a tree or stray curb, since the front wheel will lift up slightly to prevent you from hitting it.

A majority of lightweight 3 wheel stroller wheeled pushchairs have air-filled tyres, which allows them to handle a wide range of terrains. They are also more flexible than 4 wheelers. The drawback of having larger wheels is that they can make some buggies quite wide and make it difficult to get through narrow spaces. This is a problem when you're using it for a jogger or to maneuver through narrow doorways when out and about. Luckily, most models have small folding options that let you remove the front wheels to create more compact storage.

Easy to maneuver

One of the primary benefits to a three wheel buggy is that it can be much easier to maneuver especially with a child on the way. The way in which they are built ensures that the front wheels rotate on a dime and are incredibly maneuverable which makes them perfect for tricky terrain such as parks, cobbles and bumpy pavements as well as dirt tracks.

MFM reviewer Kath tested a 3 wheeler buggy wheeler with her infant and toddler and said: "The Terrain was a delight to maneuver on the ground and the swivel front wheel being especially helpful. I was also impressed by the way it handled the kerbs, particularly when using the brake operated by hand. It was extremely stable when in the downhills or on uneven terrain."

The only drawback of this great maneuverability is that the 3 wheeler pushchairs from birth wheel buggy's larger wheels do sometimes mean that it can be difficult to maneuver in tight spaces - something to keep in mind if you live in a urban region. If this is a problem then a 4-wheel buggy may be a better choice for you.
