A pushchair that is all-terrain and has great maneuverability will be perfect whether you are seeking a stroller for woodland walks or an excursion on the high street. These models typically have large wheels and have a powerful suspension to ensure a smooth ride over bumps and rough ground.

Most are suitable for newborns and come with a seat that can be placed in a flat position or a carrycot for newborns. These vehicles also come with tyres which never flatten, which are typically composed from foam.

Suspension

A true all terrain pushchair will have a good suspension which is designed to be extremely smooth on uneven ground, helping your little one to feel comfortable and at ease. The wheels should also be large and will usually be a puncture-proof type to protect against damage caused by sharp rocks or sticks.

The larger tyres can help you navigate more difficult terrain with ease and some pushchairs that are all-terrain even having additional tyres that can be switched between to suit different conditions. Certain all-terrain strollers come with a swivel wheel that can be locked to offer stability or unlocked to permit greater manoeuvrability.

To give you added security, some all-terrain pushchairs will feature a locking handbrake that is much easier to reach and use with your free hand rather than using an ordinary brake pedal located placed on the handlebars' side. This is a fantastic feature for those who are inclined to climb steep hills.

There are many strollers that offer excellent off-road capabilities but aren't the most powerful. They also have big wheels and great suspension. These are usually cheaper than full-on all-terrain buggy models and can work well for short country walks or trips to the park.

A lot of strollers are suitable for infants, with either an infant carrycot or a car seat that is designed for newborns. However, be aware that when pushing over dips and bumps, the seats aren't completely flat. Seat

There is a broad selection of all-terrain pushchairs with three wheels available that provide a fantastic off-road capability. They are ideal if you live on the countryside or walk frequently on rough, uneven terrain. These are more robust and durable than a standard pushchair. They have special features such as large puncture-proof tires that can handle the most challenging surfaces. They tend to be quite wide, and can be tricky to manoeuvre in tight spaces or aisles in shops.

The seat of an all-terrain buggy can either be world or parent facing and will grow with your child, from infant to toddler (it's suitable for children as young as 6 months). It's fitted with foam-filled 'never flat' tyres that provide an easy ride, dual frame suspension and lavish padding inside the seat that provides excellent postural support and comfort. It also features a recline mechanism, a large extendable sun hood with integrated ventilation, as well as a smart phone pocket.

Another excellent choice is the brand new Out 'n' About Nipper V5, an all-terrain pushchair that's a true trailblazer, with a great suspension and air-filled tyres making it suitable to jog once your child is old enough. Many pushchairs are classified as all-rounders. This includes the iCandy Pear, Bugaboo Cameleon and a few others. They are able to navigate rough terrain in parks or National Trust locations, but lack the off-road capabilities of real all-terrain strollers.

Then there are the crossover models, which are a great alternative to extreme off-road and high street and are able to handle all terrains with large wheels and great suspension, but they're built more in the typical pushchair style with reversible seats and full carrycot options which means they are suitable for use on a daily basis. Wheels

If you reside in a rural location or regularly take your baby for walks on rough terrain, an all-terrain pushchair is vital. These models usually come with larger back wheels than regular pushchairs, making them better at handling bumpy off-road terrain, and ensuring an easy ride for your child. A lot of models also have a sturdy suspension and puncture-proof, which means they can be used on woodland paths and forest paths, as well as gravel roads, and market town cobbles.

Certain all-terrain pushchairs have front wheels that lock, which gives extra stability when walking over rough terrain and over high kerbs. Some models have swivel wheels at the front which allows you to move the buggy with ease if you want to change direction or turn corners.

This model is also suitable for children from birth and can be used with a carrycot or a lie-flat chair.

The iCandy Peach All-Terrain is another alternative. It has large tyres, a single steering wheel in the front and big tyres. It is not as flexible as the other strollers that are all-terrain however, it is able to be able to handle terrain that is hilly and has a spacious one-handed fold that is great for long walks in the countryside, or long trips. It is also suitable for infants and comes with a large canopy that can be extended with an adjustable handlebar and a large, spacious basket.

Stores

For parents that would like to take their child off-road, but aren't sure about tackling Ben Nevis, there are some excellent all terrain pushchairs that offer the best of both worlds. Look for a model with an excellent all-terrain capability, solid suspension and big puncture-proof wheels, but built in a more traditional pushchair design with reversible seats and full carrycot options.

UPPAbaby’s popular Ridge all-terrain pushchair is an excellent illustration. It has a great suspension as well as a one-handed fold and a generous basket that can support up to 10 kg. It also comes with many features that are child-friendly, like an adjustable handlebar and an operated break that can be operated by hand on the right. The hood can be taken off and washed with cool soapy-water to avoid mould or mildew.

If you're going to be taking your all-terrain pushchair off-road it's best to opt for air-filled tyres instead of ones with rubber grips. These will provide an easier ride on rough terrain and make it easier to navigate through tight spaces. If you intend to use your all-terrain stroller for occasional jogging, ensure that the front wheel is able to swivel or features a quick release mechanism to ensure it is locked in place to give you more stability.

To keep the fabrics in pristine condition, ensure that they can be washed by a machine. If not, a spot cleaning with warm water and a little of soap gentle enough should be sufficient. The fabric can be dried thoroughly outside to avoid mildew or mould.

The majority of our three wheeled all terrain pushchairs can be used from the time of birth. It is recommended to look for models with an all-flat, fully-reclining seat with reversible backrest. This allows you to use the pushchair from the moment your baby is born until your child reaches three years of age.
