3 Wheeled Buggies

A 3-wheeler is ideal for off-road jogging and tackling terrain, from bumpy pavements to woodland tracks. They are also easier to maneuver between kerbs and up and down them compared to 4-wheel models.

Stability

With four wheels and a central point of gravity that's balanced by weight of your child's seat, buggies with four wheels are generally thought to be more stable than 3-wheelers. But that doesn't mean that a three-wheel buggy isn't worth a look, since many of these models are designed to cope with anything from rough terrain to bustling high-streets.

Look for a buggy with large rear wheels, and a lockable wheel on the front. This will make it more comfortable to drive and less likely to break apart on bumpy roads. If you plan to remove your three-wheeled buggies from the paved roads it is recommended to choose one with pneumatic tyres. They can handle even the most difficult terrain. These tyres may require pumping up occasionally but they'll be more durable than tyres made of solid rubber and more likely to be puncture-proof. Find a model with a an adjustable swivelling front wheel that locks to help you negotiate tricky surfaces.

When folded, three-wheelers can be more bulky than four-wheeled buggies due to the single wheel in front. Check that your chosen model can fit in the boot of your car and is able to be raised in the event that it is required. Some models fold by one hand, and stand up when collapsed. This can save space in the boot of your car.

A good three-wheel pushchair can take on any terrain from busy roads to forest tracks. However, it is important to consider what you'll be using for your day-to-day use. If you're planning to run the school run, it should be able to handle steep kerbs and slopes. If you intend to jog on it, ensure it has a swivelling "stretch front wheel' that is locked. This will help keep the ride smooth.
